Authorities continue to search for the suspect behind the deadly Brown University shooting, which left two students dead and nine others injured, as the investigation entered its sixth day on December 18.
Despite the release of new surveillance images, the gunman remains unidentified and at large, prompting law enforcement officials to urge the public to come forward with any information that could help solve the case.
What We Know So Far
Providence police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have released security camera photos and video footage showing a masked man believed to be a person of interest in the December 13 campus shooting. Investigators say the individual was identified based on accounts from survivors and witnesses.
Police have also confirmed that officers have been canvassing nearby neighborhoods and following up on hundreds of tips received since the attack.
What Remains Unknown
As of now, authorities have not identified a suspect, announced an arrest, or determined a possible motive for the shooting.
“He could be anywhere,” Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said during a news conference on December 17.
“We still don’t know who the person is or where he is.”
Officials say the lack of clear identification has made the investigation particularly challenging.
Community on Edge as Manhunt Continues
The ongoing manhunt has left Providence residents and the Brown University community deeply unsettled. The shooting marks yet another incident of gun violence to shake the nation, raising concerns about campus safety and public security.
Law enforcement officials say they are hopeful that the newly released images and footage will generate fresh leads that could bring a breakthrough in the case.
The investigation remains active, and authorities continue to ask anyone with information to contact police immediately.
