A tragic shooting at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, Northern California has left four people dead and 14 others injured, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred Saturday evening at a banquet hall near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue, where a family was celebrating a birthday inside the building. Just before 6:00 p.m. local time, multiple gunshots were heard, sending attendees into panic. Emergency responders rushed several victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, saying he is working closely with public safety officials to understand exactly what happened and is pushing for answers from law enforcement agencies.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Heather Brent confirmed that four victims have died. The ages of those injured range from juveniles to adults, highlighting the broad impact of the violence on the community. While details remain limited, early indications suggest the shooting may have been a targeted incident.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” Brent said during a press briefing. “Information remains very limited at this time.”

Authorities have secured the area as investigators continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and search for those responsible. No arrests have been announced yet.
