No Kings Protests Planned Nationwide AgainstTrump Administration

Washington, D.C. (Oct. 17, 2025) — As the “No Kings” movement prepares for more than 2,500 nationwide protests on October 18, organizers say they’re driven by courage but also wary of potential backlash. The rallies aim to demonstrate massive opposition to the policies and leadership of President Donald Trump’s administration.

According to Leah Greenberg, co-Executive Director of Indivisible, the coordinated demonstrations could mark the “largest peaceful protest in modern American history.” Indivisible is one of several civil rights and advocacy groups leading the campaign, alongside the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Freedom From Religion Foundation, Human Rights Campaign, and Planned Parenthood.

This is the American people standing up and saying no said Deirdre Schifeling, the ACLU’s chief political and advocacy officer. “We don’t have a king, we don’t want a king, and we’ll use our First Amendment right to free speech to protest.

Organizers say they are preparing safety protocols and legal support in anticipation of possible confrontations or retaliation. Still, they remain confident the day will highlight the power of collective action and the importance of democracy.

Courage is contagious,” Greenberg added. “When people see others standing up, it inspires them to do the same.
