🇺🇦 Seven Dead, Including Two Children, in Russian Strikes
At least seven people have been killed — including two children — during a new wave of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The strikes hit residential areas and a kindergarten in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, while Kyiv also suffered widespread damage.
Local authorities said 27 people were wounded, and emergency services continue to search for survivors beneath the rubble.
🇺🇸 Trump Shelves Putin Meeting Amid Rising Tensions
The attack came just hours after US President Donald Trump announced that his planned summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest had been postponed.
Trump told reporters he didn’t want a “wasted meeting” after Moscow refused to agree to a ceasefire along the current front line in Ukraine.
“It’s clear the Russians wanted too much,” a senior US diplomat told reporters, suggesting that Trump’s team sees little chance of progress at this stage.
💬 Zelensky: Russia Feels ‘Not Enough Pressure’
Responding to the deadly strikes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack proved that Moscow still felt no real pressure to halt its invasion.
He added that Trump’s freeze-line proposal was “a good compromise” but expressed doubt that Putin would ever support it.
Zelensky was speaking in Oslo, at the start of his European tour, just days after meeting Trump in Washington to request long-range Tomahawk missiles — a request that has so far been denied.
🪖 Russia Denies Delay, Says Summit ‘Still in Preparation’
Despite the US announcement, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov insisted that “preparation for a Trump-Putin summit is continuing,” calling American media reports “gossip and rumours.”
He added that both presidents remained interested in a future meeting, though “a date had yet to be agreed upon.”
⚔️ Ukraine Hits Russian Chemical Plant
Ukraine’s military also confirmed that it had launched Storm Shadow missiles — supplied by the UK — targeting a Russian chemical plant in the Bryansk region near the border.
Officials described it as a “successful hit” on a facility that produces explosives, gunpowder, and rocket fuel used in attacks against Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the reported strike.
🧩 Conclusion
The escalation in attacks comes at a time of growing diplomatic tension.
With Trump shelving direct talks and Putin maintaining pressure on the front line, hopes for a ceasefire appear increasingly distant — leaving civilians, including children, trapped in the ongoing violence.
