Former US President Donald Trump once again strongly criticized wind energy and wind turbines, calling them useless, ugly, and a failed energy source. During a private meeting with oil and gas executives at the White House, Trump openly expressed his long-standing opposition to wind power.
Trump stated that since he took office, not a single wind turbine project was approved, and he made it clear that he had no intention of allowing any windmills to be built in the future. According to him, wind turbines are not only ineffective but also harmful to the environment and national economy.
“My goal is to not let any windmill be built. They’re losers,” Trump said.
He criticized European countries for heavily investing in wind energy, claiming that Europe is wasting billions of dollars while destroying its natural landscapes. Trump argued that wind farms are damaging scenic beauty and turning clean land into industrial zones.
Trump also pointed to Palm Springs, California, an area known for its large wind farms, describing it as looking like a “junkyard of steel.” He emphasized that wind turbines ruin the visual appeal of once-beautiful regions.
Additionally, Trump claimed that most wind turbines are manufactured in China, accusing China of selling wind technology to Western countries while not using wind power extensively itself. He alleged that China relies more on coal, oil, gas, and nuclear energy, rather than wind energy.
While many experts dispute Trump’s claims and statistics, his comments highlight the ongoing political debate in the United States over renewable energy vs fossil fuels, especially as climate and energy policies continue to shape future elections.
